The story of Bilal ibn Rabah (r.a.), the freed black slave who became the first ever person in the history of Islam to call the Adhan (call for prayer) has always fascinated me.

It is Black History month and I always think of him. I was listening to a talk from Zaytuna College when the idea for this drawing came about.
