Ramadan 2016 / blogging break
RAMADAN MUBARAK !! (Blessed Ramadan)
Yesterday the holy month of Ramadan has begun. It starts at different days around the world, due to determining the start with the sighting of a new moon.
Muslims believe that this is the month when the revelation of the holy Qur’an came down, and all previous revelations as well. During Ramadan we abstain from food/drink/intimacy during sunlight hours, but it’s also a time of reflection, sharing your wealth and getting closer to Allah (God) through nightly prayers and reading the Qur’an.
I won’t be posting on my blog during this month (6th june – roughly 7th july) because I want to retreat a bit from my online activities, if you follow me via instagram I will occasionally post something on there 🙂
Wishing you all a great month, whether you are celebrating or not. 🙂
Much Love and Salam from the Netherlands!
P.S. This interesting video explains a bit about the moon sighting phenomenon in relation to Islam:
