About the artist

I’m a freelance artist and illustrator based in the Netherlands, currently enjoying life in the south of the country.

From a young age I’ve been fascinated by the arts. Even though art wasn’t really on my parents’ radar, they saw how much joy it brought me and encouraged me to pursue it. With their support—and the guidance of my high school art teacher, Mr. Fons Pisters—I went on to study at the Maastricht Institute of Arts. After graduating in 2008 with a Bachelor in Video Design, I unexpectedly stepped away from the artistic path. I wasn’t sure yet what I wanted, I hadn’t seen much of the world, and I was still figuring out who I was.

So I moved to London, where I ended up working for a small charity that offers respite to local carers. It was an incredible time that showed me how meaningful and fulfilling community work can be. After six years in the UK I returned to the Netherlands. I had become a mother in the meantime, and as I began this new chapter with my children, they reminded me—simply by being themselves—that what I truly wanted was to create.

Art, in all its forms, is a bridge to the unseen. It communicates the subtle notes and vibrations that logic and numbers cannot capture. Creating art is like tapping into a portal that transcends this world, offering access to new ideas and dreams. It can easily be mistaken for something lofty, but to me it’s deeply human, grounding, and essential.
